Default Early Hand from Bodog 100K - Line Check

Blinds at 10/20, my stack is down to 750 after folding top pair on the river a few hands previous when the board four flushed. I don't have any reads as I have been here less than two orbits. MP opens for a min raise, called by the hijack and CO (all of whom have me covered), I have Jc9c and call from the BB.

Flop is J83 two spades. I bet 70 into the 130 chip pot, everyone folds but the CO who calls. Turn is 2h, I bet 140 into 270 and he calls again. River is 2c. I check, he thinks for a bit and puts me in, I call quickly for my last 500. Comments?

Sounds ok to me. Im not sure about the turn bet, but once the turn action goes that way, the river player is picture perfect.

Sometimes in this spot I'll check call the turn, and then fold the river if he bets again, but this line works too.

Was it the J of spades on the flop?

If it WAS: I would have played the river the exact same way, as it looks like he was drawing for the flush.

If it WASN'T: I think i make a blocking bet of ~200, because he could be on a Jxspades, where you are pretty much guaranteed that his X is greater than a 9.

Otherwise, i like the rest of your line.
Jason

Edit: Actually, if you had more chips the blocking bet would make more sense. Since you've only got 500 behind, i like the check/call. Hope it worked out.

A blocking bet isn't gonna do much here since if he bets 200 he's going to have maybe 200 left and a 1.5k pot, which would be a horrible horrible fold.

What is your river action if he checks behind on the turn?

check again and call a bet. no need to make a big pot with a mediocre hand.
