Hitting my hand on the river and then checking heads up is one of my least favorite plays. It takes a "special" opponent to make this play worthwhile, but it sounds like you may have your man. If he is the type that almost always pays off when raised then I would go for it.

Depends what you mean by "has no clue." If it means he will call, call, call, which is frequently the modus operandus for "has no clue," then there's no % in betting the "scary" turn card as it won't be scary enough to him.

As for the river as it was, I prefer betting. Who knows, maybe he'll raise. Maybe he took one shot when the ace came and now he'll check behind with a hand with which he would have called.
