In this specific situation, what percentile of 87s would you raise UTG? Not all of em i take?

The open raise is "automatic" to you?

after some discussion, trial and error, and stats.

yes.

I don't see how opening with 78s against players who call too much and don't fold anything postflop is profitable. This play is too situational to be "automatic". It certainly should not be automatic if you will frequently get 3 bet by trash that has you dominated.

I think it is completely a function of how often you will get 3 bet. I don't think you want to make this play with guys on your left who 3 bet you with lighter holdings. Against passive players who play badly postflop I think this is fine, even if they call more than you'd like preflop. This is definitely a better play in most Interpoker games than it is in a Stars or partypoker game.

that is a very good post. and its funny b/c w/o even thinking about it ive folded the 87s type hands on stars and party b/c its uncomfortable to do play for 3bets OOP. but on inter i still do it and its profitable. good post.

and in case you didn't notice, i haven't been playing party or stars lately so for me 87s is a raise SH in most spots.
