I doubt many will say "yes" to this question, but I do think the games at party were significantly softer 2 years ago....even 1 year ago.

I am not saying the games aren't beatable, or the games aren't soft....but I am pretty confident that sustainable win rates in today's party games (with which I am familiar) are much lower than what was possible 2 years ago.

I await the unimaginative, "you just suck" comments.

I think John Conway once commented that backgammon was the only game that really amused him because it had enough skill required to be more than gambling and enough luck to be continually fun.

I have a feeling that Party is probably filling up with John Conways and so Shant is right, we'd better all learn backgammon so that we don't die of boredom.

Thank you for your reponse.
I love holdem.
Learning to play holdem well, where each situation is different is the most exciting thing I have come across in the last few years. I have done reasonably well investing in the stock market and in hedge funds and this might allow me to semi-retire. I live in Canada so I would pay no taxes on my winnings.
Any thoughts on where profit opportunities playing internet holdem will be over the next few years?

[/ QUOTE ]

The profit opportunity comes from becoming a better and better player and practicing good game selection. It is possible that this tightening-up is happening, it just means you have to play better to win.
