The Sandwich Effect, Effective Odds, and You
Subtitle: I Fold Big Pots
Villians here are both LAGgy through four orbits with BB showing more aggression on earlier streets and Button on later streets. Both are seeing about 50% of flops, so much of their aggression is misplaced. BB has been running bad this session, while Button good (just showed down AA to drag a nice pot). BB has raises any flop that he has a piece of when he is bet into. Hero is holding his own so far this session - table is typically loose, moderately aggressive. Should I regularly find a fold here? Must I stay married to my overpair for a showdown? Is it close? BB really seems to like his hand, but it was Button's call-cap on the turn that fried my brain. Obviously, the fold was made because I figured Button was baiting the both of us and I was afraid of getting sandwiched on the river for 4 more BB if BB/Button got into a raising war. Even so, that'd be about 8.75:1 effective odds if the river is capped (35.2 BB / 4 - I think that's right). I've gotta be good here 1 out of 10, right??? [/ QUOTE ] With the flush and weakish straight draws on board, I was hoping that having favorable position on BB would allow me to face the field with 2 BB on the turn as well as extracting more out of LAGgy BB.
