The biggest tell I have ever seen is when a player picks his cards off the table when he is pondering to call you. It always means he will fold

If this player happens to be an alpha-male you can goad him into calling by simply pointing this tell out to him

I remember that hand, you worked that poor bastard like a tool, and you worked him hard.

In my home game, players taking a long time is always a sign of weakness. When I bet and someone takes a long time to call the turn, and a brick comes on the river, I know I have them.

What do you guys think of someone who pushes... and when you look up them, they are looking right at you and give you a big smile?

Strong means weak. Weak means strong. Any look/stare at you for a length of time after a big bet is usually weakness.

The look (assuming it's more of a stare and not a look and look away) and smile is representing strength. Barring other information to the contrary, it means weakness.

Yes, but you need to think outside the box!!

Obviously these are the most basic tells in Caro's book. However, I don't know how well my opponents understand these tells or know of them -- so I made a poll.

From this poll, I found out which tells everybody knows (shaky hands), and which tells people are less sure about (talking during hand).

I plan on using this information.

You should too.

I personally like the Farha tell Moneymaker Sr. pointed out: when Moneymaker would go all-in against Farha and Farha was shuffling his chips, you knew he was about to fold.

That's one of the most profitable tell in Poker!
