Re: Two BB Hands -- HU 20/40: Standard or Stupid?
hand 1 is standard. maybe a little too standard though. even mediocre/bad players are used to seeing this line and too much now and will call down happily w/ A high here.
hand 2 is fold preflop. did you know that A9o in the bb is a fold against a regular raise according to the ed miller book? check it out it's an amazing book. |

"Hey, you will get better responses in the HU short handed forum."
why would he post hands from an 8 handed game in the hu/shorthanded forum? |

Wouldn't you rather play A-9 head-up than 8-7?

Re: Two BB Hands -- HU 20/40: Standard or Stupid?
Almost never, especially out of position
For the situation to be reversed, the opponent must be put on a unbelievably weak set of hands, in which case you will simply be trying to make him fold his nothing anyway. In the A9 hand, it's suicide to play it for the best hand unimproved, and it's very unlikely to make an excting hand. The 87s cannot be played for the best hand, but is much more likely to make something excitng that will lead to +ev on the later streets, including but not limited to the ev earned on bluffs and semibluffs.
