Weighing the Odds - 9. I think this cover is quite good. Professional design. Surprising to me coming from Pi Yee press (Professional Blackjack and Sharp Sports Betting both rate about a 3 in cover-design imo)

Thanks! When discussing the cover, I told Stanford that I thought his other covers sucked. Since poker is a bigger market, the cover is going to matter more. I'm glad he was able to find a great designer. I'm very happy with it.

I have to agree with Bob here. Out of 20 poker books I've owned the best cover far and away was King Yao's book. The only other cover I liked was Ciaffone's Improve Your Poker.

Dude, where is TPFAP on this list? It looks like it's made out of velvet. 10.

Good call.
forgot about that one.

I'm looking at both TPFAP and SSHE right now side by side.

I think the color for TPFAP is kind of classy.

since SSHE is a 4 I'm going to give TPFAP a 4.5 (although the 'WINNER' at the base of the little trophy is not so hot)

I like the HLSGFAP cover. 7CSFAP is beyond gay.

I don't have either.
I don't know what HLSGFAP is.

I suspect you might be kind of joking in that perhaps these two covers looks identical??

Bob,

Given your criticism of book covers, how about some constructive advice for the publishers...

What in your opinion would a 10 book cover look like?

Pretty much like the cover of King Yao's book.
That's close enough to a 10 imo.

I did specifically mention that I thought SS2 would have been better with pics of their famous authors.

If I see or think of any book-covers that I like (poker or not) I'll mention them too.
Right now I don't have any specific recommendations....and I wouldn't know how to describe my recommendations very well anyway.

I pretty much can boil it down to:
King Yao's cover = good
typical 2+2 covers = bad

just my opinion. Other may really dislike the King Yao cover while thinking that the more simple (and consistent) 2+2 covers actually better serve their purpose.
