I guess you know why i'm prepping for the bigger displays :P

Its quite a bit of cash....and i'm a freakin stinge...but I'm trying to find a happy spending/saving median.

I jsut wanted to know. CRTs -v- LCDs for a 8 hour session (with breaks here and there). Will LCDs wear your eyes out MUCH less?

Go with the LCD's

1) your price is too high for them ~500 US and if your stuck in Canucklestan then I sugest looking at the many fine alternatives than the Dell.
2) Way less power usage
3) much easier on the eyes
4) They don't heat your whole house
5) I actually have desk space
6) I no longer get sun burnned playing 1000 hands
7) they are just about the best thing since sliced bread

On the flip side if a tsunami was to attempt to wipe out your abode, you could rest assured the building would not be going anywhere because of your two boat anchors.

(My 2 Dell Ultrascan 21" Trinitrons weighed 120ibs each, yea try your typical cheap desk with those)

what are the best prices anyone has ever seen in canada for a 21" lcd?

the lcds dont really have any more functionability than the crts except for maybe a minor difference in picture quality. if the money matters to you then go with the more practical option with the crt instead of the luxurious option being the lcd.

do you have any idea how huge a 21" CRT is? practical isn't the first word that comes to mind.

Look for coupons at BestBuy or in store stuff, Ill ask my buddy tomorrow actually, he was just about to buy two 21" CRTs for under half what you're speculating with, but then he realized he'd have to put an addition on his house to store them.

In all seriousness, everyone will tell you Dell LCD's are the bomb cuz they are, you can shave the price down too with coupons, but if you're cheap, have some desk space, and dont get eye strain too easy, two cheap CRT's should be fine IMO.

That being said, if I had to give up my 2001 I'd cry, but I really think on a budget (or just skimping) two CRT's is goot.
