I know in situations where I'll raise A8o on button, get 3 bet by the SB, then call down an A high flop until it's checked to me on the river, I always bet and it's virtually always good. I shouldn't be checking should I?

No, you should be betting in that scenario. A river c/r like the one bob is going for here is a rare thing, because most players have no reason to believe their opponent will bet, and the likelihood of it getting checked through is high.

Hmm...I dunno, most of the time that people call PFR's on an AKx two-tone flop, they either have the flush draw or an A or a K.
If they have the flush draw, we give ourselves a (vanishingly small) chance of inducing a bluff on the river, and in my experience a reasonable amount of 5/10'ers bet A's and K's here. Just IMO.
