Default JJ in the big blind

Party Poker (5-10) 6 handed, no read on villian
Hero is big blind with JhJs
4 folds, sb limps, Hero raises, sb calls (4 sm. bets)
Flop: Ac 9h 5s
sb bets, Hero raises, sb calls (4 big bets)
Turn: 9s
sb checks, Hero checks
River: 5h
sb bets, Hero calls

Was the turn check horrible and was there enough chance of a busted gut shot draw (or PP like 66) to justify a river call? Thanks in advance.

If you think he does not have an A or 2-pair on the flop, then I like your play. I think you have to fold the river in this case unless you have some especially good read on villain, simply you are not winning this hand unless the guy was all out bluffing.

I think you're looking at this all wrong. Put the small blind on a range of hands, which includes an ace (although he'd probably raise preflop), a bunch of 9's and 5's and some random gutshots and then go from there.

For the OP, uggh...that's an ugly turn/river. I would probably bet/fold the turn and though I would probably call the river if I was playing, I can't think of many hands you beat. A river fold is probably best. The only hands you beat are missed gutshots. Would he really bet/call the flop with 87, 76, 86? If so, does he bet the river?

Steve
