Default My first B&M experience

Hi all

I have been down to the local casino to check out the poker room to see what the play is like. Once down there I realised that the lowest limit they offer is $4-8. To me this is huge as I am usually playing .25-.50 and .50-1 anyway I decided to stick around and watch. I soon discover that the play is extremelly similar to that of .25-.50 online. Problem is now I need a bankroll.

I decided that in one sitting online my losses don't fall below 20BB and that is on a bad day with the cards and especially rivers killing me. I'm usually a 3-4 BB/100 player. So I decide $160 should be enough for me to sit down. Big mistake maybe but I just needed to finally experience a B&M.

So I save up my $160 and head again down to the casino just in time for when the poker room opens. When we get started everybody rushes to get to their seat. I am seated two to the dealers right. I head up to the buy in area to get some chips ($160) worth and head back to the table. Low and behold I am first one back and it turns out I have bought the most chips out of everyone. (This surprises me some what.)

The next suprise is that the dealer button goes straight to the guy on my left (next to the dealer) and we start playing. Holy crap none of this high card stuff. Wow I did get a good seat.

Anyway the first couple of hands I am nervous as hell. Trying to remember what hands to play where since I don't have my notes with me. Anyway after folding crap I get dealt Q10s in late middle position. Ok here we go first hand. I call as well as 5 or 6 others. Flop brings K of my suit J and a 5. Okay open end straight draw. I then call 1 bet while everyone else folds. The better has won the previous two hands betting on top pair with no kicker And he didn't like the way I called his bet either. So I figure this is what he has again. The turn brings another blank of my suit giving me a four flush and a OESD. I realise that this next move was wrong. But at the time it seemed smart. He bets and I raise. He looks at me for a second and then calls. River brings my flush. He checks and then calls my bet. He then turns over top pair no kicker and I show my flush. He then laughs and says to me "did you know that diamond was coming?" I then said "well I was trying to make sure you didn't win three in a row." He then laughs. Two hands later I get dealt AQo. Same thing happens lots of callers after my pre flop raise. Flop brings the Q I bet lots of callers. Turn I try for checkraise but it didn't work. River I bet 2 callers. I take down thepot as the others kickers were bad (really bad). The bloke to my right (who I took the flush pot from) then decides he will move seats as he doesn't like sitting next to me. Next few rounds I don't get a decent hand so folding constantly. Then I get KQo in early so I call. There are a few callers as usual. FLop brings Q J 10 rainbow one bet and I call. Yes I know I should of raised. Next comes the A. It gets checked to me I bet everybody folds except one check raiser. Oh crap he has a K also. I then call. and call the river again (another A) He shows me K4o. Crap I think. Should of won that one with a raise on the flop. Split pot. I win another pot with my J10s on a J high flop after I bet the turn (rag) and everyone folds but then the big one happens.

On the button with AKs [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. After 5 callers (no joke) the bloke next to me raises. I then call hoping to keep everyone in the pot (bad play?) Everyone calls except the SB. Flop brings Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 something. One bloke bets 1 caller folds left right and centre then I call. Turn brings the 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. BB checks UG+2 checks and I bet. BB folds UG+2 raises. Ooh check raise I am literally so nervous about winning this huge pot that I am shaking like crazy. I pause for a while gather my nerves then reraise. BB folds then UG+1 calls. River is a blank. Checked to me I bet he calls. Table eagerly awaits. He shows J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] giving him a straight and a flush and is all happy. I show mine and the table goes nuts and the other guy all of a sudden sits back in chair with a huge look of disappointment on his face. I then spend the next 5 mins stacking my chips. (Lucky the 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] didn't come.)

Anyway unfortunately I have class in half an hour so I wait for the BB to come to me then get up and leave. The bloke next to me says lucky day huh well played. I say thanks and cash in my chips to a total of $332 More than doubled my money all in around 45mins.

Well what can I say I can't wait to go back.

Problem is My GF won't let me she doesn't like me to gamble as that is all poker is.

Poker is really fun when you catch the cards you need.

Where did this all take place?

BTW,

Let your GF know that you are going to play poker now before she becomes your W. Poker is a fun hobbie, not a dirty habit.

Nothing wrong with that move at all.

Sweet first time.

I'm guessing most players bought in for $100 just because it's the easiest thing to do, but they probably had another couple hundred in their pocket that they could have pulled out when their chips got low. $160 is cutting it close to be your total bankroll.

Buy her something. Everytime you play, win or lose, buy her something or give her a little money.

i'm not trying to sound like a dick but you really need to read the strategy forums on here more. you're leaving a ton of money on the table. for instance, you didn't reraise preflop with AK [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], which i guess isn't a huge error.. but then for some reason you just called on the flop too even though you had that huge draw?
