I'm glad some of you people are so able to hate a person based solely on what you've read about him.
************************************************** *******
Read about him?????!!!!!
No....it is what he has *SAID* and what he has *DONE* which formed my opinion of this man. I lived through the Carter years. Jimmy Carter is reaping what he sowed.

Despite of what you somehow think, you are wrong. A recent poll shows 45% of Iraq's population support the insurgent attacs. Only 15% strongly support the US coalition. (Boston Globe, Juli 10th)

Jimmy Carter: Iraq War Was "Unnecessary and Unjust"
"... excuses to potential terrorists to lash out at our country and justify their despicable acts."

[/ QUOTE ]

This is wrong in so many ways... their is NO JUSTIFICATION for the random killing of innocent people (especially women and children). Terrorist who launched attacks like 9/11 and the London bombings have NO legitimate justification, acts like these merit no legitimate cause.

For Carter and OP to suggest otherwise is absurd.

Anyway, to say you hate a person based on this, well, I'm sorry for you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Based on this? heck this is the least of my worries about Carter, these were only words. His presidency is what worried me, we had the worst economy since the depression under Carter.

I'd dissagree with that, I know people in the army and they tell me when they get back that they receive nothing but happyness when they see the people on the streets, kids walking up to them giving them candy almost everyday. Of course this isn't a good story for the media, so its never shown.

You disagree with the results of a poll? And instead you refer to a few individual stories... oh man.

Also, if you think the media outlets don't go out of their way to tell positive stories about Iraq, you need to start to read the papers and watch the news.

Yes depending on who takes the poll and what questions were asked.

Slinky -

Go read some Iraqi Blogs. Here's a list.

I think you'll find it interesting. There are some from all political leanings. I guarantee you won't find this stuff in the MSM -- and I wouldn't consider the Boston Globe rated even that high.

The road to hell is paved with ....

I don't give a damn about Carters good intentions -- he was and still is a fool. He would have made a great minister, probably a good Pope -- but I don't want utopian peaceniks running this country and making defense decisions as long as we live in the real world. In the future this country can remember Carter as the result of what happened the last time we stepped through the looking glass ...
