a hand i\'m having trouble with
hand is on pokerroom (which doesn't appear to be working with the converter right now), so excuse the sloppiness.
Reads: MP1 is passive before and after the flop and loose. he's a big loser in the game(duh). hijack just sat down. Hero in BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 folds, MP1 calls, 2 folds, HiJack (Poster) checks, CO and button fold, SB calls, Hero raises, 2 callers and SB folds. Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets, 2 callers. Turn: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets, MP1 raises, poster calls, hero calls River is a blank deuce Hero checks Call down from here or pop another? or was the turn the place to re-raise if i was going to? |

Re: a hand i\'m having trouble with
Not sure why you'd think about raising here. The turn card was the worst one possible giving possible trips and even a possible flush. I'd call it down but if you were to consider anything different it should be whether to fold or call....not raise or call.

Re: a hand i\'m having trouble with
Turn card sucks, Specially against a loose guy. You say hes passive so he either hit trips or the flush.
I guess i bet the turn in this hand, And cringe whilst doing so. Although if hes loose id think twice and may even check/call, then check/call the river. Anyhow. Preflop: FIne Flop: Fine Turn: Fine i do the same(And cringe) river: Check/Call [LET ME FOLD ] Showdown: See flush/trips - Lose. |

Re: a hand i\'m having trouble with
call down from the turn raise. Why don't you post your reasoning for wanting to raise or bet again, because right now it doesnt make sense to me.

Call down. The best you can hope for is another K or A for the boat.

Re: a hand i\'m having trouble with
Calling the turn bet instead of raising was good for a few reasons. As previously noted, based on the sudden raise it is likeable that your opponent either caught trip 7's, a flush (though I doubt it), or maybe he's just got the Queen of diamonds in the hole. Most likely though, he has the 3rd 7--
Either way, here's why I think calling the turn bet instead of 3-betting is smarter: With your opponent's bet on the turn, the pot (if I'm counting correctly) is laying at exactly 9.5-to-1 BB, and you've got 4 sure outs to make a full house, and if you call the bet, the pot is at 10.5-to-1 -- the break even pot odds for chasing your 4-outer. Of course the river missed you, so you should call for one more bet in what's likely to be a 12.5BB pot. |

Re: a hand i\'m having trouble with
I would slow down on the turn (like you did).

Re: a hand i\'m having trouble with
I'd call down. Against a passive I wouldn't expect to win, but I wouldn't expect to get him to fold a better hand either.
