foxwoods NL 300 Buy 2,4 What do I bet?
10 Player Table I am EP ($650) and have 10/10 and and bet $25 (mistake?). It is folded to my unpredictable opponent ($700) who makes it $100. I call and it is now down to two of us. The flop is J 6 2 offsuit. I am first to act. How much (if any) should I bet?

I should point out that the guy made it $50 with j 2 offsuit about five hands earlier and was playing a ton of hands.

So, by that, you're calling his PF reraise b/c you think your hand may actually be best here. If that's the case, then push PF, if not muck.

I agree with the two replies already made. You are calling for a bit more than 10% of your stack (violating the 5/10 rule). Also, your implied odds are 550:75, or a little better than 7:1. I don't remember exactly, but I think the odds against hitting a set are more than 8:1 against.
Easy math-based fold. If you are both deeper then it's a different story. Marlow |

I like your thinking because I am out of position here but what do you think of a $200 or so bet on the flop to see if the guy actually has a big hand.

[/ QUOTE ] Not sure I call the $100 here preflop for all the reasons here, plus it leaves you with a horrible decision to make. If I think he has a hand like J-2, I'm going to pop him back preflop. No reason to bet $200 here. That's waaay too big "just to see if he has a hand." You know this guy is going to bet the flop if you check to him. So either check-raise if you think he missed or lead out with $125 or so...but only if you think that will pick it up right there. This is a terrible spot to be in with 10-10. The more I try to think about what your best play is, the more I like folding preflop.... |

Re: foxwoods NL 300 Buy 2,4 What do I bet?
If you want to win this hand, I think a check raise all-in is your best bet. If you lead into this maniac, he will literally reraise you with any two cards. He said he hand a big hand preflop, do you really expect him to give it up on the flop when you lead into him? He is going to suspect you have something like TT or 99 and want him to fold which also implies that you will fold to a reraise. I don't know your style but most players won't lead AA or KK into a reraiser preflop on this board and the villain probably knows this.

This is all dependent on how you've been playing, but I'm inclined to bet about 150 here.
