Re: A player who acts instantly every time - suspicious?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] "irregardless" isn't a word. [/ QUOTE ] maybe its not a word in canada, but it is a word in america EH! There is nothing worse than a uninformed linguist. From merrian-webster's: Main Entry: ir·re·gard·less Pronunciation: "ir-i-'gärd-l&s Function: adverb Etymology: probably blend of irrespective and regardless nonstandard : REGARDLESS usage Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead. [/ QUOTE ] fine. since america has the biggest army and a semiliterate president who "ain't" afraid to use it, then all the ridiculous words americans made up are appropriate now. my bad. p.s. i am joking here. please don't respond as if i am being serious. |

[ QUOTE ] Do you have card graphics set to on or off? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I've confused many many people with this option. [/ QUOTE ] I was at a table a few weeks ago when a guy was convinced I wasn't even bothering to look at the dealt cards before acting. "You didn't even wait to see the card! You HAVE to be bluffing!" in the chat, etc. It might have been less entertaining if he weren't paying me so well to watch. |

Never can tell with you crazy Canucks. [/ QUOTE ] the oxford english dictionary isn't restricted to words of british origin. "irregardless" is a american-based malapropism combining "irrespective" and "regardless" into a new "word". it's a pet peeve of mine, and my criticism was meant as a bit of a joke. i swear i won't bring it up again. incidentally, i don't think anyone responded to my actual comment - why not sit right before the alleged bot and min raise his blinds to "test" the theory? |

Re: A player who acts instantly every time - suspicious?
This is not suspicious.
I programmed a bot a long time ago for heads up play (against myself, of course). First, the bot must read the board (through a text file), pass in the cards and the betting actions, and then decide the best course of action that way. This takes at least half of a second on my (very fast) machine and very simple algorithm. I doubt he's using a bot, he's probably just one tabling. |
