Default Trouble w/Pocket Jacks

$0.50/$1.00 NL Hold'em

Villain has been on the table for about twenty min,
nothing out of the ordinary (not too loose, not too
aggressive, etc).

Villain is in early position and me in late position.
I get dealt JJ. Villain calls, I raise to $3. Villain
calls.

Flop is 876, all unsuited. I bet $3, villain calls.

Turn is 7. Villain checks, I check.

River is 8 (no flush possibility on board). Villain
bets $5.

Hero ... ?

Probably has an Ace, and thinks he is splitting with another ace. I raise $10 to $15 here and see what happens.

I disagree.

I think calling is fine here. a raise will never get called by the ace and you would hate a reraise.

Bet the turn. The way you played it, call the river.
