yes, it is this clear. in sngs your stack is too shallow to worry about two pair/sets etc. [/ QUOTE ] Good, because I called. Sadly, as I did it, I said "Pocket jacks." to my wife, who was watching. We all know what happens next. To which she sweetly replied, "Why did you call if you knew he had a better hand?" I feel like an ass, because I put him on the exact hand he had, but I called anyway. My brain said fold, but my heart said call. |

[/ QUOTE ] This has happened to me before as well. I called aces on a dude preflop when I had KK and I was right. I posted it and people yelled at me. One of the few times I can think of where being right was counter-productive. I think the odds you're getting after raising are too good to let go. He has AJ, QQ, or a straight draw combination more than often enough to make this profitible. |

Re: $55 - KK UTG, one caller and a J-high flop. Puke.
I have played an absolute ton of 55 lately to get used to 8 tabling and I think you are ahead ~50% v. average 55 player, so you should call. Against some people you should never ever call. Against some other people you should know on the smooth call on the flop not to put another chip in unless you hit a K on the turn.

Re: $55 - KK UTG, one caller and a J-high flop. Puke.
i have a question for everybody:
if hero does not intend to call an all in raise, isn't hero better off just not betting the turn at all? |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't mind folding kings there if my brain is really screaming at me to do so. I can understand giving this guy respect here, as it looks like this is the first hand he has opted to play (so he's not splashing chips around) and he probably knows that your UTG raise to 5BB's means business and he's getting in there with you with the whole rest of the table still left to act. Then again, I don't hate calling here since you could very well be ahead of QQ and even if you're behind you are still going to have 600+ chips to play with. But if my feelers went up when he called the PFR from that position, I think I would be inclined to bet it more seriously on the flop. My gut says that he's not the kind of guy who will stack off to me with eights or something like that. I don't know that I really want to see an ace, a queen, a jack, or a ten on the turn either. |
