Re: NL 50, Set of 9s, Turn 3-flush
By the way, I'll admit that I probably should've made more noise on the flop, but FWIW I was fairly confident he would make another pot-sized bet on the turn almost regardless of what card fell.
As far as turn/river, here was my dilemma: if I just call and the river is the 4th diamond, how big of a bet can I call? The fact that I think I have to call sizable bet here (though not a push) is part of why I didn't want to put myself in that situation. |

Re: NL 50, Set of 9s, Turn 3-flush
I think if villian is a known chaser, then your turn push is almost-OK. He's getting 2:1 to hit is 4:1 flush draw (assuming he has a big pair with a diamond) and he may make the mistake of calling. But more often than not, he doesn't have a big diamond or he's smart enough to fold to your "obvious" flush.
I think you really need to call the turn. If a 4th diamond hits and he doesn't have a flush, he's not likely to bet on the river anyway. |

Re: NL 50, Set of 9s, Turn 3-flush
leading the flop or check raising the flop depends on how you play if you have something like 66 or 77 here and suspect villain to be on missed overs.
check calling is the worst of the 3 options as diamonds kill your action as you found out. |

Re: NL 50, Set of 9s, Turn 3-flush
Thanks again for all the comments, I'm gonna to think about this hand some more.
It's now obvious to me that I screwed up the flop. |
