Odds of flopping 2 pair or trips?
lvl 3, i was sb with 27o. there were 6 limpers , so i was getting 15:1 to call.
flop missed me, so i check/fold. (but even if i got top pair, i would have check/folded to 1/2pot or better bet.) just wondering if my call was correct? What are the odds of getting 2pair or better on the flop if u have 27o? |

Look about half way down. search function output |

Re: Odds of flopping 2 pair or trips?
"2-pair or trips is mutually exclusive of a straight, straight draw, flush, or flush draw, so you can just add these together as needed:
2-pair or trips: 3.47% or 5.71% if you include 2-pair with a pair on the flop or three-of-a-kind on the flop. 8-out straight draw or 9-out flush draw: 19.1%. Follow the links in that post to get to this number, and some other good stuff. 8-out str8 draw: 9.6% 9-out flush draw: C(11,2)*39/C(50,3) = 10.94% straight: (4*4^3-4)/C(50,3) = 1.29% flush: [C(11,3)-4]/C(50,3) = 0.82% straight flush: 4/C(50,3) = 0.02% " How do i convert that to x:1 format? |

Re: Odds of flopping 2 pair or trips?
oh man.. so even with 15:1 odds, it's incorrect to call with 27o when everyone has >10BB stacks?
what do you mean "5.71% if you include 2-pair with a pair on the flop or three-of-a-kind on the flop" isnt a pair on the flop = trips? |

Re: Odds of flopping 2 pair or trips?
it is written in most good poker books as 28 to 1 for 2 pair or better with any non pair. that is the number to remember. you might say your implied odds....but toss it, the hand sucks, and you could flop 2 7's and lose to a full house or A7.
the real answer is you are not receiving the correct odds. |

Re: Odds of flopping 2 pair or trips?
I think you must consider implied odds when playing these longshot hands. For example, if the flop comes down (Kd, 7s, 2h) you are likely to get action from one of the other players in the pot who paired a king. Of course, if all the other players in the pot are skilled they will realize how many people saw the flop and will play the pair of kings more cautiously. However, against weaker players I believe the implied odds improve dramtically.
