If you honestly think that Daniel can't have a higher hourly rate then you,

[/ QUOTE ]

Smoothcall said at the limits that he plays. And I'll take Smoothcall over anybody at live 15-30 holdem. I do not know Daniels' hourly rate at any game but I'll take smoothcall. that's not to say that I think that Daniel is not a very good poker player. From watching him on TV mmy guess is that he is very good. No, I'm not sure about Daniel but I am sure about Smoothcall. And i might add so are most Vegas regulars that play against him.

Hi Mike:

I agree. While I'm sure he's getting a lot by most people's standards, $3 million sounds way too high.

best wishes,
Mason

[/ QUOTE ]

Did I miss someone describing the duration of the supposed deal? For example, a ten-year deal for $3 million (and particularly if it's paid $300k per year over time, rather than an up-front lump sum) is obviously an entirely different kettle of fish, if you will, from a twelve-month deal for $3 million...

There is an obvious incentive on the part of a celeb getting paid for a promotion to leak the largest dollar value that can be put on it with a straight face (assuming the person wants his "value" to be known in the first place), and perhaps leave out some of the "(payable ratably over the next 1,000 years)" details in the process... true story...

i brought with me, and picked up more at the trade show, several new poker magazines. i also brought with me a couple of past issues of casino player.

while in vegas during the ME, ON THE TOILET in my room, i read this in a small sidebar story in one of the new mags or one i brought with me. i was surprised, and read it again and again.

coming home, i had bought so many gifts that i had to purge all my magazines i brought. so whatever publication it was in, i won't be able to find the hard copy story because i trashed them all.

while it is entirely possible that the magazine source got it wrong, i can assure that this was not a Granny, senility moment. o'malley would know more than most (except daniel and wynn), so i tend to think the story was wrong. however, this story is currently in print, valid or not.

i can't find it online, but since it was a new edition of whatever mag it was, it is possible the archiving is not done yet. i'll search again in a few weeks, but like i said, it was just something in a magazine and nothing i heard from any horse's mouth.

[/ QUOTE ]

Do you remember if it mentioned how long he has to play at the Wynn to get the whole $3 million?

Because you find a definition that suits your purposes doesn't change the truth. This guy meant it as an insult and so did you n your post to me.

[/ QUOTE ]

My apologies, Vince. I'll now strive to abandon my use of precise language based on commonly accepted dictionary definitions and instead confine myself to your subjective, unusual, and entirely personal notions of what words mean.

[ QUOTE ]
And regardless of how you meant it or he meant it the most important consideration when considering if something is an insult is how the recipient views it. That is what caring parents teach their children. And all of your bruhaing won't change the fact that you are wrong!

[/ QUOTE ]

And while I'm at it, I'll teach my kids that objective reasonableness has no bearing on their conduct! Think of it! They can walk around on eggshells, fearing that anything they say or do might be perceived as an insult by any nearby jackass that simply happens to think so!

[ QUOTE ]

While I will apologize for misusing my pronouns, since I responded talking about both your post and Smoothcall's post in one, I will not do so for calling you a troll. And, beyond that, I will not believe that calling someone a troll on an internet message board constitutes "name calling." It is merely a way of describing a particular type of poster, sometimes accurately and sometimes inaccurately.

A troll is not just someone who does flaming and or totally non-substantiative posts, but also can be someone who posts repetitious garbage.

If you believe that your post stating that you believe it is possible that the reason danny plays these matches is due to some exclusivity clause in his contract with the wynn, you are hugely mistaken. similarly, if you believe you are even merely the 20th person to independently come up with this amazing insight, you are mistaken.

Further, if you want to have your posts where you say things and question things like you did in the original post taken more seriously, you should probably include the evidence which you included in this most recent post in the original post. Much like if you were to write a paper for a class, you wouldn't just write it with no evidence, and upon receiving a D for lack of supporting evidence then tell the teacher that you had lots, and pull a pile of evidence out of your pocket.

As for the tone of my post and it's content, it really was in no way attacking, uncivil, or inappropriate unless you decide to read it that way. it was not meant that way. It was meant as exactly what you hint at, an attempt to keep the discourse civil, but also not just having the same 5 posts over and over again.

In finale, anyone who thinks that "troll" is an inappropriate thing to call another person on a message board is quite mistaken, in my opinion. If the moderator wants to tell me otherwise, he is of course free to warn me off that and delete my posts or edit them or whatnot.

I've just got to say, I blame Dynasty for all this. And that's a shame, because he has truly insightful views on many aspects of poker, not to mention politics, psychology and the other places he posts.

It was his "no more flame wars allowed, ever!" thread that started giving Vince/Smoothcall traction on this "it's just so unfair how the moderators abuse us " line of discussion, and it now appears to be slipping into the mainstream as more people get sucked in...

Of course, that works just fine for me since I find it all extremely entertaining (much better than dry poker analysis), but a lot of people seem to dislike it...

No i dont think him being even in this short term against barry means anythng to decide whether he is world class or even close. in fact i think many on this board could do thw same in short term like this. just by the luck factor alone.

Why would you assume his results are good? Because he is famous? this is the problem that i have. people want to call him world class just because they want to look up to and admire someone they see on tv. Paul phillips said something to the effect people want or look for people to put on a pedestal and have unreal expectations of these peaople. i'm kinda saying that worng and if misquoting sorry. but somehting to that effect. that is the problem i have with many on this board. they think these guys are superhuman and anyone who questions a play or there ability deserves flaming. and it wouldn't matter if i showed facts or not. they don't want to see it. they want to believe in something and don't like to hear others opinions.

Obviously i don't know as i don't play them. but from heairng around and my guess i would say chip and chau giang have to be considered 2 of the best. the others i question(not saiyng there not, just saying i have more doubt than i do with those 2).

Have you read his blog before? I guess he could exaggerate his results, but what would be the point. I guess beating multiple top notch players (most players can't afford to put up 500k) heads up might have something to do with my opinion of him. ANd no the REASON I don't think he's that good live isn't my opinion it's Barry Greenstein's opinion of him. Go read Barry's website www.barrygreenstein.com...his opinion of Daniel's side game talent as a 7 when some other top quality players are around the same. I don't worship Daniel. I think he's one hell of a player. Maybe he's getting killed in the cash games, from his blog

http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poke...mp;ucat=1&

He seemed to have won 600k on a weekend. I guess that isn't that great, but I guess that would be a score.

http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poke...mp;ucat=1&

He loses 400k in a weekend as well. I can't tell you his exact results, but I know his roll (around 4 million before the HU tournies began), and I'm pretty sure that's higher than his tourney winnings.

Should be obvious. Howard heard the truth and couldn't handle it.
