Default Bank Rolls?

I know you require a certain bank roll for ring games (20-30X). Is there such a thing for tourneys?

I've heard don't spend more than 10% of your bank roll on a tourney entry.

I've heard that if you should take a shot at the highest level your can afford.

If you don't win that one, you probably would be a loser anyway, so get to the results as fast as you can. +EV

That or 1%, I get MTT and STT forum mixed up.
