88 on the edge.
MP2 is a tight/aggressive player--18/11/1.6 over a few k hands.
UTG+1 is a LAG. 42/15/3.1 over 50 hands. The other cold callers are loose idiots. [/ QUOTE ] Party Poker 9 handed Preflop: Jeff is MP1 with 8h, 8c. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls, Jeff raises, MP2 3-bets, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls, Jeff calls. Flop: (16.50 SB) 9s, 6h, 5d (5 players) UTG+1 bets, Jeff raises, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, Button folds, UTG+1 calls. Turn: (11.25 BB) Ts (3 players) UTG+1 checks, Jeff bets, MP2 calls, UTG+1 folds. The three overcards on the board are a bit scary. There are no draws on the flop. Unless the TAG was betting with a hand like A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] or a middle pair like 77, you are probably in trouble. I'd probably check/call the river given the size of the pot. |

Re: 88 on the edge.
As a side question (not trying to derail the post) but do you guys always raise with middle pairs in that position? I thought these paid off more with a big pool of players and you also want to try to get in with a single bet? I normally limp here with 9's-7's. I fold 6's-2's from UTG 1 & 2. Is this bad?

Re: 88 on the edge.
Are you betting the river as an underdog, but you feel he'll call (or fold) more than he raises?

Re: 88 on the edge.
This raise PF is on the edge I think. Maybe a little more profitable and more variance. I also think the river bet is on the edge too.

Re: 88 on the edge.
I gotta comment that you made a good flop raise. I need to start doing that more often, especially against LAGs. Nice and aggressive. I like it.

Re: 88 on the edge.
Ah I see. So he'll call with a hand like AKo often enough.

Re: 88 on the edge.
TT is possible and maybe even a weakly played overpair, but you're right. His stats and postflop play means AK, AQ a lotta times here.
