QJ--I know I'm beat

I think I misplayed this like no other. I hate situations like this where I have initiative OOP, but I know I'm beat.

BB is a completely nuts maniac; MP is a 30/10 and reasonably aggressive postflop.

Check/call the turn, check/fold the river?

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Hero raises, MP 3-bets, 2 folds, BB calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (9.40 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB bets, Hero raises, MP calls, BB calls.

Turn: (7.70 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP calls, BB folds.

River: (9.70 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, MP calls.

Final Pot: 11.70 BB

Folding preflop would by my preference, but let's not start another QJo preflop debate.

Flop looks fine.

Turn looks fine.

River is not a good value bet. What is villian going to pay off with here? He is coldcalling on the flop with an Ace or flush draw. At the very worst he has a gutshot on this flop and KQ just made it. I think check-folding is the play here, followed by check-calling.

I agree the river is terrible.

But, the more I think about the turn, the more I hate it. Any hand MP 3-bets preflop and calls 2 cold on the flop has me beat and probably isn't going anywhere. Plus, my 2pair/trip outs are so tainted that I can't see a check-fold being that bad.

Is a turn check-fold too weak?

I like open raising with QJo, since it's just so darn good.

It looks like MP has Ax or QQ-KK, and you're pretty much effed. Oh well.

What's the purpose of raising the flop here? Are you trying to make MP fold KK or QQ? You're behind a lot or just making a hand that you wouldn't mind calling fold.

Fold preflop. Call the flop and fold the turn UI.

Yes. It's probably not worth the 2 SB's though. I think calling and seeing what MP does is a better idea.
