Liddy is a total arsehole, but he's famous for a challenge where you each hold your hand in a match flame and whoever takes it out first loses. He's supposedly held his hand in the flame for a good while after the flesh was noticeably burning.

As one of Nixon's political operatives said when Liddy proposed setting up the Democrats with whores and then photographing it and releasing it to the public, "Thank god he's on our side!"

The guy is a dirtbag of a high order, and morality doesn't seem to be his strong point, but as far as macho goes, he's got a deserved reputation for being the real deal.

Hmmm... that was actually a wager between me and some friends not too long ago. I had mine in for a full minute.
