Re: And this ******* gets MY cruise
With 5 players in the pot I'm not sure it was wrong for him to play. One of the raises in front of him was all-in so that player might not even have a hand. And it's not like he magically knows you have AA.
With the pot being huge it seems clear to take a card off on the flop, with the likelihood of five outs. I feel bad for you getting your AA cracked on a key hand in such an important tourney, but I think your beef is with the poker gods, not with your opponent. After all, unless you want to win the blinds every time you get AA, you need for someone to stay in with SOMETHING, and 76s isn't exactly a piece of cheese in a multiway pot (in fact it is the best hand you can have against AA). |

I disagree. While the pot was 5 handed, 2 of them were all-in, severely limiting the implied odds needed for his hand. And it's not like he magically knows you have AA. True, but 3 betting from the SB should indicate something. With the pot being huge it seems clear to take a card off on the flop, with the likelihood of five outs. Not only does he figure to have 5 outs, he could reasonably think he has the best hand against a big ace. A raise might have been reasonable. unless you want to win the blinds every time you get AA, you need for someone to stay in with SOMETHING, Agreed. 76s isn't exactly a piece of cheese in a multiway pot It isn't exactly a multiway pot, and 76s is exactly the kind of cheese you want calling 2 cold back to him. I think your beef is with the poker gods, Yep. |

Re: And this ******* gets MY cruise
It's not an issue of implied odds. He is last to act, and is calling 544 into a pot of about 3500. Is it really clear that 76s doesn't have the odds to call that bet? He only needs to win around 13% of the time.
Since this is limit the implied odds aren't really worth that much anyway. Compare this to a situation where you limp with 300, there is a raise and a re-raise, and everyone folds back around to you. Now you are calling 600 into a pot of only 1800, and there is the possibility of a cap. I think we all know that you need a pretty strong hand to think about calling under those circumstances. But I think these are two very different situations, and you need to think about the actual situation at the table and not just fall back on general principles like "you need a very good hand to call 2 raises cold." |
