AA first hand facing resistance
UB 11$ turbo 10 person sit and go.
1st hand. 1500 stacks, 10-20 blinds. I am utg+1. 1 fold, I raise to 150with AA, 3 callers. flop:9,7,3 rainbow, about 600 in pot. I bet 400, 2 folds, LP raises to 800. Hero? do i really give this unknown credit for a set and fold with all these chips already in the pot? I see alot of people do this with any overpair at this level. Just curious what other players playing 11's would do here. thanks in advance |

Re: AA first hand facing resistance
At an 11? I push. If they flopped a set, so be it, but more often I'm either doubling up early or atleast taking a nice pot.

Re: AA first hand facing resistance
go all in. KK-66, or even something like J9 (yes, i have actually seen this) could be raising you. yeah, it MIGHT be a set, but you gotta gamble.

Re: AA first hand facing resistance
easiest push ever on such a board. seriously, a naked 9 is so likely at a $11 that there is no other way to play it

Re: AA first hand facing resistance
also, the raise preflop is a little large. somewhere between 60-100 (3x-5xBB) is better, although if you've seen raises like 7.5xBB being called by 3-4 people, then your raise makes sense.

Re: AA first hand facing resistance
thanks guys. the pf raise i s a little large but with a good made hand like AA i tend to overbet a little because people will make the mistake of calling and being doiminated. anyways i thought easy push to and got shown a set of 9's.
too bad |

Re: AA first hand facing resistance
I had a similar situation last night with my pocket Qs on a flop of 873 rainbow. I bet the pot, the other player raised me twice my bet. I figured that at the level I was playing ($5.50 on PokerStars), he or she could easily be raising with A8s, 99, TT or JJ, all of which I crush. I wasn't worried about AA or KK because my opponent did not reraise me preflop. I pushed, opponent called, and turned over his set of 7s. Oh well. I was back in another SNG about 30 seconds later.

Re: AA first hand facing resistance
I've had KK on a Q high flop after a preflop raise was called, too. Rainbow so I check-raised all in. He had QQ, heh (he had flat called my preflop raise)
