In the meanwhile, my team here in Memphis has a game this Sunday afternoon at 1.
The high is supposed to be 103 freaking degrees and the humidity will be really humid too.

Blah....I feel for you.

We just had record heat for the summer in Sacramento (something like 9 straight days over 100), but the lack of humidity makes all the difference.

People mock the saying, "but it's a dry heat", yet I'll take 110 with low humidity over mid 90's in Orlando (and other humid climates).

Also, I am proud to have been a backer and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I was very impressed by the level of service at the casinos, you could not drink your drinks fast enough to take advantage of this. Compared to Foxwoods and Mohegan it is amazing (hi-rollers I am sure have a different view).

Vegas for single people would be a blast I am sure. While the poker games in Vegas are fishy as you could ever hope the pace of them is just not fast enough for me.

I am a multi-tabling and internet surfing guy. The 25 hands per hour is just not enough to hold my attention well enough.

As far as weather, I was there for the worst I guess, which I would take over the New England winters.

With all my family and wife's family here in Mass. it really isn't even an issue, but can see the lure for a primarily live game player.

Maybe if you asked the casino nicely they would pull 4 tables together so you could "multi-table".

At the Bellagio and Wynn with the auto-shufflers and generally very good dealers I suspect I was getting close to 40-50 hands an hour much of the time.

The live game began to grow on me when it wasn't at a TOTAL snail's pace.

Don't know about the drink-service in the northeast. But there were times when they were changing waitresses at the Bellagio where we waited over an hour for our drinks. It was pretty bizarre.
Most of the time it was pretty good though....and sometimes it felt like they were strolling past every 5 minutes and that you could get more drinks per hour than hands if one so desired.

Gallopin - I'm definitely a believer in that whole dry-heat thing now.
I worked for 6 summers in Florida...and in the outdoors no less. 105 in Vegas had NOTHING on mid 90's in Florida. And it wasn't even close.

I was amazed at how remarkably tolerable 115 degrees in Vegas actually was.
