QJs: Probably against one of you chaps
Villain is very solid, TA, a touch tricky. UTG is ok, straight forward - I could be in trouble to a KQ/KJ. Haven't seen enough of him to know what his limping standards are though.
Party Poker 30/60 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $30. UTG calls, Hero calls, 1 fold, MP2 raises, 1 fold, CO (poster) calls, 1 fold, SB calls, BB calls, UTG calls, Hero 3-bets, MP2 caps, CO calls, SB calls, BB calls, UTG calls, Hero calls. That's not what I wanted. I didn't think I would lose everybody. Turn: (16.50 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, MP2 bets, Hero calls. River: (18.50 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets, MP2 calls. Final Pot: 20.50 BB I think preflop, flop and river are debatable. For some reason, I wasn't thinking river check-raise prior to the river. Because I played the hand so oddly, especially the flop....there's a chance villain could have frozen up with an overpair on the river but the more I think about it a river bet by villain is pretty certain. |

Re: QJs: Probably against one of you chaps
I hate the preflop 3-bet, especially if you think UTG is likely to have you dominated or share your cards. Three-betting the flop looks fine, as you have a good draw and people are likely to have one-pair or gutshot type hands and won't fold those. Looks like an easy river checkraise.

Re: QJs: Probably against one of you chaps
I don't find the pf 3-bet terrible, but I don't like it. The flop raise is clear, the results unfortunate.
Against most players I'd definitely go for a river checkraise, especially the way he's been playing the hand. However, if this guy is really as good as you say, I'm thinking there's a good chance he can see that you very likely just made your hand and will check behind. I like the river bet. |
