2-4 Loose villan
Playing 2-4 nl on prima. Iv ran my stack up to 750 when following hand came up. Villan in this hand loves to see flops. earlier he limped, then called my 6x bb raise with A6 suited. So his hand range here could be alot.
I pick up JJ on the button, villan limps mp2 limps, I make it 24 to go. Flop comes 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] He checks, I bet 40. Villan calls. Turn comes 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] making my straight. Villan checks. He has 280 left. Whats my line? |

Re: 2-4 Loose villan
Pot = Preflop (24 + 24 + 6) + Flop (40 + 40) = $134
You have no handrange but I assume he has a set or two pairs: Holdem Hi: 44 enumerated boards containing 7c Td 8d 9h cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV 9c 8c 4 9.09 38 86.36 2 4.55 0.114 Jc Jd 38 86.36 4 9.09 2 4.55 0.886 Against set: Holdem Hi: 44 enumerated boards containing 7c Td 8d 9h cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV 8c 8h 10 22.73 32 72.73 2 4.55 0.250 Jc Jd 32 72.73 10 22.73 2 4.55 0.750 I would bet: $46 - $70 giving a set improper odds of catching a house and still callable. Please correct me if Im wrong. I want to learn. |

Re: 2-4 Loose villan
I would check, leaving an opportunity for him to attempt a bluff on the river or bet a lower straight.

Re: 2-4 Loose villan
I think that the set or two pair are not the most likely hands for the villain to have. For 1, he might raise the flop with those hands, especially given the straight draw. Also, there are worse hands he would potentially call the flop bet with. Thus, you should not play the hand assuming he has one of those two.

Re: 2-4 Loose villan
I shouldnt assume this when he calls a $40 flop bet?
He might be lag preflop but he doesnt say villain's stupid. I think I need to charge him here IF he has a set. Nothing is better to have a set and fill up for FREE. A continuation bet here is more likely to induce a bluff than a check imo. |

River.
I took the dangerous route and checked, figuring if the board paired, id be real cautious. River comes 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] making a flush possible. Villan bets out 88 into 133 pot. He has 200 left. Do I call or is that too weak. Is a push better?

Re: River.
You should have bet the turn.
Villian is loose. A bet doesnt mean you have a jack. If he has a set you dont give him a free draw. You want to build the pot. Raise the river if you think he will pay you of with a 6. |

[ QUOTE ]
I shouldnt assume this when he calls a $40 flop bet? [/ QUOTE ] The villain mixes it up, so he could have called preflop with 6 7 suited and hit a low straight or A 10 or K 10 which could justify a call. He may even think the hero is putting a move on the pot and is calling with A 9. [ QUOTE ] I think I need to charge him here IF he has a set. Nothing is better to have a set and fill up for FREE. [/ QUOTE ] Sometimes its worth risking letting somebody draw out because of how profitable disguising your hand can be. [ QUOTE ] A continuation bet here is more likely to induce a bluff than a check imo. [/ QUOTE ] I'm curious why you say that because maybe I am missing something. imo, if the hero checks the villain will not think that the hero has the straight because it seems "dumb" to check it. Instead, the villain will think the hero is afraid of the straight. Therefore, the villain will bluff on the river, or even value bet the set if he does happen to have one. |

Re: 2-4 Loose villan
Did you take a look at the board? A check imo is the worst line here.
