(fwiw, this is not a dig at Al, I just thought it was too funny when the thought went through my head to not post it - Nigel)

I too started with a winning blackjack record (card counter, Hi-Opt I system). That game has obviously dried up. I switched to poker about 2.5 years ago. Lost initial bankroll of $200. Got the Advanced Sklansky book and started with another $200, playing 0.5/1 limit ring games. Spent a lot of time on this site initially, not so much now. Have sinced worked my way up through various games, always judicious about staying within bankroll. Currently playing primarily $215 single table tournaments, 3 at a time, with an ROI that hovers ~16%, (roughly $95/hr). Bankroll is a healthy $35,000. Went to WSOP this year and played the $1000 buy-in just for kicks, finished 29th for $3100. Struggling to play 100 single table tournaments a month (I have a pretty busy day job) getting my rake back, usually good for about $3000/mo.
It can be done.
