Missed Value Bet
Pot seems too small, and there's a four straight. I have aces up, should I bet? If I only had aces, should I bet or check?

Re: Missed Value Bet
Probably. I would have bet the river and probably folded to a raise.

Re: Missed Value Bet
Easy bet in either case.

Re: Missed Value Bet
Remember this is a backdoor draw and villian is unlikely to have it. This looks like a call station calling down with any pair. Bet river for value on this scary board. Also, didn't post BB+dead?

Re: Missed Value Bet
Let's say he bet that river instead of checking. Would you have called? If so, bet out and make him call YOUR bet instead. Easy value bet IMHO.

Re: Missed Value Bet
Given the preflop/flop/turn action how likely is he to have a ten?

Re: Missed Value Bet
Grunching ... These hands are always tricky and I'm almost always unclear if I'm playing them right. There are a lot of variables here, and reads would help tremendously.
If CO is not a complete donkey, he will figure you don't have the straight given your action, which makes a strong argument for leading out, and then folding to a raise. But if CO is tricky, he might try to bluff raise you here. Checking might be a good idea if you can induce CO to bluff at the pot, which is likely with the river scare card. Again, reads would help. In all, I think the CO won't fold for one bet, you would probably call one bet to catch a bluff, and you can safely fold to a raise. Bet the river. |

Re: Missed Value Bet
Yes I think you should value bet this river, as there are plenty of weaker hands which could call you.
I cant see any other A hand that would have given you just top pair, that you might have raised with preflop from SB. However, I still think that I would be inclined to value bet this board with top pair HU against a loose opponent. |
