Layne likes Tex's small raises for some reason. He thinks Tex needs to worry about his table image.

If he didn't, then the only hand that Hachem loses to is Tx where the x is on the board

[/ QUOTE ]

Really?

Even if Tex didn't have a PP the above isn't true.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, AJ would have made a higher straight, but Tex almost certainly would have raised preflop with AJ.

You're stretching a bit. The point is you are only getting called and winning the pot against trip tens most of the time. That's about it.

Do you really want to risk a reraise and possibly fall into a trap or get bluffed out of the pot entirely in the hope your opponent will call you with a ten in the hole when there are already two of them on the board? It doesn't seem to make logical sense to me, but I've never claimed to be a great player.

Why did Hachem check CALL his straight ??? Why no raise ???

[/ QUOTE ]

The board was paired. He was worried about a boat. I higher straight is less likely.

He is probably ahead, but if he raises and gets reraised, he may lose all his chips. If he raises and is ahead, he may not get called and may win a smaller bet than what he would lose if behind.

Still, calling might be too cautious.

Neither have I... I think the play is close, and I might be wrong.

3-handed, the way it was played, and judging from how these guys have been playing for the last 14 hours, I think you have to raise that river. I don't think you can play that scared.

But that's just me.

Layne (or Jeff? or Phil? sheesh I've been sitting here for 14 hours) liked the check/call for the same reason. He said, "enough money in the pot".

Since when has "enough money in the pot" ever been a good reason to do anything?
