How long is the "long run"?

When i read this it got my attention and i wanted it. But now after 60,000 hands I am little bit higher than .5 (1/2) BB/100.

I only play the best starters. I read SSE 3 times, TOP 2 times, and 7 other poker books.

These results are horrible.
Normally I win small pots and loose big pots when I get draw out. This occurs when I am protecting my hand or raising for "value".

How long is the long run really? I am beginning to think it is very long.

I am playing off my original stake of $50. I've won around $8000. ($2000 during this 60,000 hands.) I know i'm a small winner and the fish are probablly depositing alot, but it seems like they keep dragging in pots.

What? The long run is long. I don't understand this post. There was a 30K run of hands at 2/4 where I ran over 4BB/100. I'M NOT THAT GOOD IM JUST A SWINGY PLAYER. 60K hands is nothing.

The point is , is it worth chasing the long run? And how long is it?
The other point is that in the book SSH it states that making $50,000 is no big deal. No big deal and the long run is very long are two very contrasting statements.

I won $2000 in $60,000 hands. My total poker winning are $6000. I was playing $5/10 prior and won $4000. I dropped down after a huge swing.
I wrote $8000 but it was an error.

I don't understand. Play your game, improve, make money, lose money, whatever. If you are playing well you will make more money as time progresses.

.5BB/100 over 60,000 hands at the $1/$2 limit is still only $600. [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Hey guys, he put (1/2) as in half as in 0.5BB/100.

He quoted about 3/6 games.

0.5BB/100 for 3/6 over 60k hands = 1800 (Close to 2k)

That should clear up that confusion. Also, the long run is long, but I'm not sure only variance can account for that winrate over that amount of hands. You probably have leaks.

The long run means nothing concrete to you. It is something you will never experience. It is only helpful in gauging expected value, which can be estimated in a variety of imperfect ways. Play theoetical +EV situations (and try very hard to discover the non-obvious situations for all your hands) and avoid -EV situations as best you can. Then you will win big. TOP says as much, and it's certainly true.
