I asked Juanda about that one night when he was on one of the FTP tables... he said that FTP is paying out the money... it is NOT actually coming from their winnings

Exactly, Full Tilt will be paying this out of their own pockets...
It's promotion, do you realise one nationally run commercial costs more than they are going to pay out to this guy. The fact that they can now promote Matasow and Ivey after this year's run, they don't give a [censored], their making money hand over fist in exposure right now. |

guys, guys, guys!!! They have insurance!! Probably from Lloyds or that company that insures against those half court free throws. (That company was talked about in the book The Man with the $100,000 Breasts) No way Full Tilt would take that kind of risk - especially for a qualifier winning it all and an extra 10 million. The only Full tilt pro that actually won a seat was Allan Cunningham in a $200 sat, though I noticed they took his name off the list of qualifiers on their website for some strange reason.
This will be some good advertising for Full Tilt assuming Ivey and Matusow don't implode. |

[ QUOTE ] FTP has to be putting up the payouts. No way a pro would pay out 18% of their earnings. [/ QUOTE ] C'mon, most likely FTP put up the whole buy-in for the ME at least, maybe the rest of the event as well. giving up 18% equity in exchange for 100% of the buy-in is +EV even for Phil Ivey. [/ QUOTE ] youre wrong |

A Super Bowl commercial will cost 700k or more for merely ONE 30 second spot, I believe the OP was referring to an Ad campaign which includes many many more 30 second spots.

I would guess FTP took out some sort of insurance policy, incase Ivey wins the whole shabang. The odds of him winning were such that an inexpensive insurance policy could be easily had. No way they'll be paying 750k out of their own pockets. If they have to, someone F'ed up. [/ QUOTE ] insurance is always EV-, otherwise it wouldn't be offered. |
