I've wondered the same, where does the money come from, it's not like Phil Ivey needs the backers.

So whomever got 10% is garanteed at least 30,000 at this point. Not a bad deal at all. How many people entered this tourney anyways ?

Full Tilt also had a promo where if you win your seat through them, then win the whole shebang, they float you an extra TEN MILL.

I wonder if Phil got that deal too...?

I mean surely he got his buyin for free, giving up 18%, but if he takes it all that's huge for FTP.

Just speculating...

Ok, you guys want the skinny on this mystery man? We were down to about 15 or so and I was an average stack, as was he. He'd been stealing a bit and I saw him win an all in A9 soooted to AK not 5 minutes prior. He was two off the button and brought it in for the standard 3xBB which was 1/4 of both our stacks. I get 99 and push just trying to take the pot down. Guy insta calls with Q-10 off and rivers a Q. So yeah, he doesn't post here and I doubt he has ever even played before let alone picked up a Slansky book.... So in short he had a monster stack after that and sucked his way through the rest of the field 33 cracks KK etc. Everyone on the final table got %1 and he got $15K plus %10.... So he's pretty much a shoe in for $100K, I love poker.

Default Ivey Gave Up 18% for 10K Buyin???????????????

I don't know anything about the FTP deal. That 18% comes out of Ivey, Matusow, & Juanda's payouts, not from FTP's rake?

I can't imagine Ivey esp. going for that. Not like he couldn't win a sat easy enough or just steal the antes in the 4-8K game and use it for the buy in.

FTP was willing to risk 10KK but still wanted the pro's to float the 18%? wow....

FTP has to be putting up the payouts. No way a pro would pay out 18% of their earnings.

C'mon, most likely FTP put up the whole buy-in for the ME at least, maybe the rest of the event as well. giving up 18% equity in exchange for 100% of the buy-in is +EV even for Phil Ivey.

I would guess FTP took out some sort of insurance policy, incase Ivey wins the whole shabang. The odds of him winning were such that an inexpensive insurance policy could be easily had. No way they'll be paying 750k out of their own pockets. If they have to, someone F'ed up.
