Too early for the queens?

blinds 50/100

Hero has 2400
Button has 1900

Hero is UTG and raises to 300.
Folded to button who pushes for 1900.
Folded to hero.
Hero calls......

I think this call is standard in this spot, howvever others have disagreed.

Opinions?

I would like to play poker with these "others." Sounds pretty profitable.

While JJ is probably a fold, AKo probably too (but slightly closer and possibly a call for image reasons), QQ is a very clear call in my opinion.

You are most likely to be up against AK, and hand which you are 57% against. You need to have about 40% on average to make the call. It's not disasterous if you get shown AA or KK here sometimes. And as a nice bonus, I think you will sometimes even see AQs, JJ or TT here.

I can see why they think it's a fold. I just dont think you are going to be seeing AA and KK often enough this early in a tourney to worry about it.
