[ QUOTE ] And, she thought it would be better NOT to ask the question in the morning dealer meeting! This is a ^$@&## world championship! [/ QUOTE ] It may be a world championship for you guys, but I bet she is still only making $5 an hour. [/ QUOTE ] Dealers make minimum wage plus tips. In the case of the WSOP, I believe 3% of each prize pool is automatically withheld for this purpose. So that comes out to about $1.68 million for the main event. I don't know what the breakdown is (maybe floor people, etc. get more), but if the $1.68M was divided evenly among 500 dealers, each one would get over $3300, which would come out to about $40-50 per hour for 70 hours worked. It's certainly fair to expect at least a minimum level of competence and effort for that kind of pay. Even though there's apparently a critical shortage of well-trained dealers due to the poker boom, you'd think Harrah's wouldn't skimp in this department, especially for the main event! Alan |
