I agree with AngryCola. There are times to play differently against different players, even given the same actions and situations. Is that considered part of the psychology of poker? I think it is - you are identifying their psychological make-up based on how they played previous hands, and that gives you ideas to play differently against some players, even with the exact same hand and in the exact same situation.

The simple choice of calling against a constant bluffer versus folding against a non-bluffer - in my mind, that is part of the psychology of poker.

To the original poster- I haven't read Killer Poker, so I can't comment on that. I do think Psychology of Poker and Inside the Poker Mind are both top notch books, go get them!

Will ITPM and PoP help with one's NL game? It seemed like these were limit psychology books from what some people have said.

I hear that Vorhaus' book had some good "attitude" ideas regarding table presence and such, but that better poker advice can be found elsewhere.

Whoops, I dont mean "limit psychology."

I meant do the books use strictly limit examples, or is it for poker in general?

When I wrote POP, I had played NL only once or twice. Virtually all of it was based on limit games. I still play mostly limit, and POP does not have any NL examples.

The material on reading and adjusting to other players is much more appropriate for limit than NL. However, the general principles certainly apply.

The material about understanding yourself seems relevant to all forms of poker.

Regards,

Al

Yeah, as long as it applies somewhat, it should do.

Do you know anything about ITPM, corresponding to lim vs. nl?

Thanks for the reply Al.
