using pokerstove to evaluate my pot equity on the flop
I would like to practice determining my pot equity on the flop. I will assume my opponents don't vary their starting hands based upon position. Assuming such an opponent has a VPIP of 30%, is the following list a good approximation of their starting hands for use in pokerstove?
Any two cards 9 or better, any pocket pair, suited connectors down to 54s, any suited Ace, A7o or better, and K7s or bettor. I welcome any modifications. Furthermore, I'd also like to make a list of starting hands for opponents with VPIP in the low to mid 40's, and I would appreciate input on which hands to add. Do you think such players are more likely to inadvertantly follow the starting hand guide in HEPFAP or be more inclined to play hands like Axo and Kxo? |

Nothing?
Come on, I'm sure people want to estimate their chances of winning the hand based upon opponent's starting hand selection. No comments at all? |

Re: using pokerstove to evaluate my pot equity on the flop
When you say "suited connectors" are you counting 2-gap and 3-gap connectors? To get to 40% you should include those and J7s, T6s, and Q8s I would think.

Re: using pokerstove to evaluate my pot equity on the flop
If you have HPFAP, the portion on short handed play has exactly the top 40% of hands spelled out as the hands you should play in the BB when calling a SB raise. I don't have my copy now (@ work), but you're close. You should have any A. Other than that, I'll have to double check.

A link would rock!
I searched a bit before I posted, but couldn't find anything. I'll continue looking. |

Re: using pokerstove to evaluate my pot equity on the flop
Excellent. Thank you very much.
I guess it's safe to assume that if a player has a VPIP ~40% and isn't playing those recommended hands, my odds of winning will only go up (in general anyway). |
