WSOP Day 3: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
Card Player says 569 players will begin play at noon tomorrow (though their chip count only lists 566 players).
They'll be playing hand-for-hand until they reach the money when the field is reduced to 560 players. Blinds will be 1,000-2,000 with a 300 ante. Here are the top ten chip leaders: 1 Rod Pardey Jr. 464,000 Chips 2 James Pollack 447,500 Chips 3 Tim Phan 445,500 Chips 4 Bryan Stellwagen 377,200 Chips 5 Bob Hotchandani 372,700 Chips 6 Lee Watkinson 336,800 Chips 7 Jon Lane 331,800 Chips 8 Russ Salzer 326,000 Chips 9 Greg Raymer 318,700 Chips 10 Yakov Hirsch 318,100 Chips For Raymer to be doing so well is going to be a big part of the story tomorrow and when the ESPN show airs. This is the first time a defending champion has made a serious run in quite a few years. These are the lowest ranked players on the chip counts. I thought it was ninehanded?
And I also thought it was 1k/2k with 200 ante, but maybe that was the final level of day two? |

Re: WSOP Day 3: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
It is 9-handed and was all of Day 2. Blinds/antes start Day 3 at $1K/2K with $300 ante.
I am still hanging around with $61K. Wish me luck. |

Re: WSOP Day 3: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
Is the payout for Bubble Boy #561 (tourney directors are calling it "last place") $12,500, and the first person in the money (#560) is in the neighborhood of $20K? I thought I saw that info somewhere.

Is Olga Varkonyi the wife of the ex-champ? She's behind a nice stack of chips going into Day #3?

Re: WSOP Day 3: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
One interesting name on the list in 43rd place, is that Robert Varkonyi's wife? I imagine ESPN would love for her to make a run, it would make for lots of easy stories.
