Why did you post this hand? What was interesting about it?

I like bet/3bet, others like c/r...but this whiffs a lot. Second of all, you can't just give villain credit for the straight flush on the river here. I'd probably call a cap but wouldn't 5bet because you've only got the 3rd nuts and he obviously SEES the flush on the board. |

Don't play hands that include deuces unless you have a solid pattern mapper.

PREFLOP: Marginal call. But OK.
FLOP: Bet. Top pair, albeit Weak Kicker, and Flush Draw. Hand plays differently from there on. EDIT: Oh, you were trying for a C/R. Board is too scary to expect anyone else without a K or Flush Draw or a Pocket Pair higher than middle pair or an 8 for middle pair to bet. TURN: gOOt RIVER: gOOt |

For those questioning the pre-flop call... say what?
I am having serious, serious trouble getting my SB VPIP to anything even close to resonable, and this is the easiest complete in the world for me, you have a suited K! So for you guys advocating not completing here, what hands do you play, and what is your SB VPIP? Thanks, Nigel |

[/ QUOTE ] 3-handed, wouldn't you expect the preflop raiser to almost auto-bet this flop? Barring some really weird opponents, I know I'd bet with any two if I was BB. I'd be surprised if this flop was checked around even 20% of the time at 5/10sh. I probably would've gone for the check raise as well to hopefully get the 3rd player trapped into the pot. Tho I can certainly see the point of betting out too. |

Why I like a flop checkraise
I think a flop checkraise is best for a few reasons.
First, this flop is unlikely to get checked through. PFR will bet basically 95% with anything. Hands like QJs, Ax, etc. will bet but will fold if you bet. So you get more value if you are ahead by checkraising. If MP calls, you also trap him. Second, if BB does raise, then yes you can 3bet...but is this really a great scenario? If he raises the flop you are likely drawing to 9-14 outs. On average, you don't likely have an equity edge against just the PFR. If MP stays in then things change, but a raise by the PFR will likely drive him out. Then if you 3bet, PFR has the option of calling your flop 3bet and raising you on the turn. This is no good. Also, if he raised you on flop with a hand like 99-QQ, he will often fold to a turn bet after you 3bet, whereas if you checkraised he will call down more often. |

[/ QUOTE ] I posted I thought it was a marginal call, but what I had mistakenly been thinking at the time was that I would not complete if there had been no limpers and I was opening. In this hand there is a limper. I wish I had a starting hand chart for the blinds when there is 1-2 limpers (and for when facing a raise also) to help me with this. My 6max VPIP from the SB is 52%. What is the recommeded ballpark for this stat, anyway? |
