Hi. .25/.50 NL. Testing my limits a little. Party Poker .25/.50 NL scares me more than any other .25/.50 NL games. I'd rather play .50/1 NL on Absolute poker than .25/.50 NL at party.
This guy is a bit raise happy since he sat down. over 8 hands. he is 40 /15 Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (8 handed) converter UTG ($104.35) UTG+1 ($51.45) MP1 ($51.15) Hero ($87.15) CO ($74.51) Button ($88.95) SB ($20.7) BB ($21.25) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25. 1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $2, 1 fold, Hero calls $2, 4 folds. Flop: ($4.75) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG+1 bets $4, Hero raises to $15, UTG+1 folds. Final Pot: $23.75 I figured I hit my hand. Didn't want him hitting a ten or a heart. |

party 50 NL is land of the maniac. Apparently all of the maniacs who run over 25NL feel it is their duty to move to fifty as soon as they have more than a buy in to do it with. The maniac is a strage but predictable beast. Calling = weakness and he attacks weakness with a bet almost exclusively. Just call on the flop. Let him "bet his way out" of this hand. he will do it all the way till the river, where you can put in a raise; at which point he will try and push you off of your hand if he has any type of a hand.
The underlying fault in a maniacs strategy is overagression. This is exploited by calling, allowing him to continue to be agressive; not raising. |

Any other opinions ?
I guess I was afraid of A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] |

don't you feel uncomfortable to give a free card with a hand as weak as two pair on a draw heavy board?
@OP i think my raise would have been a little bit smaller but your line is fine (i think my bets tend to be too small, especially on the flop). |

At party poker, I was using the slider. I wanted to raise about $12 but it went from $10 to $15 and no in-between.

i like your raise, but the reason to do it is definitely not the possibility that A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] might be out there. this hand has 12 outs to the nuts and 6 to TPTK (which are not good, but villain can't know that). even against your hand it is close to even money and wont fold, no matter how much you bet (ok, maybe if you push it, what would be a terrible move).
