Sup guys. I'm a SSNL hold'em player who plays home games. As of late, we have been somewhat bored of hold'em and are trying new games. Our buy-ins are usually in the $20-$50 range.
After reading PL/NL poker, reu and cia describe pot-limit stud. I've never really heard of pot limit stud, only limit. So just a few questions... -How big should the antes be for a $10-$20 buy in? How big should the bring in bet be? -Although I have little experience at limit stud, I know the basics. How does pot-limit play change from limit play regarding stud? In hold'em, they are two completely different games. Is this the same case in stud? If I can think of more questions, I'll post them here. Thanks for the responses in advance, I'm sure these questions will be easy to answer... |

I would think a .1 ante would be good. A BI of a quarter would probably be good. These are just guesses though, I've only played PL stud once or twice, but enjoyed the game. Anyway I'm sure Andy or someone else will give you some good guidelines.

I agree these are probably decent antes and bring-ins. Also to the OP there was a post on 'mississippi stud' yesterday which seems like a cool variation for home games, you may want to check it out.

Pot-Limit Stud is over the top. The best way to go is Half-Pot-Limit. It is played at the Burswood Casino in Perth Australia. It beats every game I know. I'm sure u'll love it. Just start by everyone put in an ante of 25 cents and highest card showing brings in half-pot. U can also try lowest card showing brings in half, or just 25 cents.
I hope at Party, they will offer it someday. It's really great. U can also look online at 7Sultans, they offer full-potlimit-Stud. Cheque ante's and stakes. Good luck! |
