What was Phil Gordon thinking going all in in 1st position with 7 8 clubs when he still has $7200 chips ??

He might have been thinking "Damn. I've only got $7,200 in chips. I think I'll pick up the $700 in the pot since nobody is going to call my bet without a premium hand. Even if they do call, my 87s plays as good as possible against a premium hand."

Something must have gone terribly wrong since that hand, chip count is now showing him at 4K...

Especially since Hellmuth had a commanding lead at the feature table.

Well your explanation kind of makes it sound ok dynasty, except i think its just very risky in 1st position.

I don't know where everyone gets all this false information. It's almost like they make it up.

Hands posted on places like cardplayer.com often have incorrect information in them. Their most recent update is this

Always extraordinarily nice to Card Player, Cyndy Violette stopped by to tell us about her bust out, just in case we missed it. With the flop showing 9c-4h-3c, Cyndy Violette goes all-in for her last few thousand in chips. She shows Kc-Jc for a flush draw and two overcards. Her caller, Randy McKay, unfortunately showed Ac-3c and a much better flush draw. As Cyndy called for a King, the turn was a 6s, but the river brough the unfortunate club flush, and Cyndy is eliminated.

The 3c is on the flop and in Cyndy's opponent's hand. Obviously we can figure the flop was most likely 9c,4c,3x. But, these mistakes are regularly made.

It's definitely risky. It's almost certainly too risky.

I'd speculate the Gordon was in a state of mind where he wanted to either double-up soon or get busted rather than getting ground down slowly.
