Just bounced back from a 13K breakeven stretch. Sometimes I think of what I would say to variance if I ever saw it on the street. Then I remember that without it, there would be no poker boom and I would have to get a job.

even if you are a 2.50 bb/100 winner you should expect to have multiple 10K hand breakeven stretchs over a few months if you play fulltime-it's just part of the game. More than 10K I'm prettty disgusted 15K I would be pulling my hair out. I cant imagine 20K or 30K hand stretches. I would step back down once my wheels kept spinning at 15K. 15K hands is ~430 B&M hours- around 3 months of play.

Zetack I know you used to play $3-6 Full -not sure what you are playing now. But 10K/12K hand break-even stretches are just part of the game even for very good players. Problem with part-time players is that 10K-12K hands seems like a real bad stretch when you are only playing 10K-20K hands a month. If you played all these hands in one week it would just feel like a crappy week. There is a chance that you may need to step back and look at your game also.

My guess is that a combination of things are happenings-you may not just be running bad but also may not be adapting to the games you are in. Full ring games at Party across most limits are not as easy to beat as they were 3/6/12 months ago.

I've never had a stretch over 12K hands were I broke even but I underplay my bankroll and skill level to smooth out my earn. When that did happen to me I went back down and played half of the limit that was kicking my ass and half at my old stumping grounds were I knew I could re-align myself and regain some confidence.

Ironic you mention this because I'm on a break from poker right now -just chillin and studying the game.

The month of July was supposed to be my month were I played pretty much all $5-10 Full. I came into the month being a 2.25 bb/100 winner. Well I got crushed last month lost $200 after like 10K hands and just said fukk it and took off for a month or two break!

When you play higher like alot of the guys here that have posted int his thread there is a good chance your hourly earn is smaller in terms of bb/100 and your standard deviation higher. It is much easier for a very good $15-30 LHE player to have a 20K hand breakeven stretch than a very good $3-6 LHE player-variance.

If you are still playing predominately lower than $5-10 you should not be having 15K/20K breakeven stretches-the games are just too easy and the variance too low especially with a 1/3 blind structure in $3-6. If you do hit 15K/20K my guess is you have some serious problems with your game. I'm sure thu that you are just running crappy and the worm will turn soon..you'll probably win 3bb-4bb/100 over your next 10K hands

About 2 months now. Although "break even" would be an improvement.

I had a stretch of almost 24,000 break-even hands just a few months ago.

Well, I lost 100BB over my first 5K hands of 3/6, and after having clawed back to -20BB, I dropped close to 140BB over a six day period two weeks ago--bringing me down to -160BB after 17K hands. I decided I needed a break after that horrific week--and I haven't played online since.
