What does \"kill\" mean
When a B&M offers 4/8 LHE with 1/2 kill, what does the kill mean?

Re: What does \"kill\" mean
if the pot reaches a certain size and its scooped by one player, the player would have to post $6 in front and the game would be 6/12... a full kill would be 8/16$

Re: What does \"kill\" mean
I've played 4-8 in Vegas where there was a 1/2 kill after 2 consecutive wins - very lame and rarely happens.
I've also played the 5-10 at Foxwoods where there is a full kill after a previous pot reaches $100. Lots of wild swings, luck plays a larger factor in your potential win. Any other casinos offering kill games? |

Re: What does \"kill\" mean
Just to be clear. There are two kinds of kills. Both double the stakes. In Type #1, the stakes double on the next hand if the current pot was >$X and was not chopped. In Type #2, the stakes double when the same player wins two pots in a row. In type #2 kills, the winner receives with his first pot, a small disk that says "leg up", and if he wins again, the disk is flipped over so it says "killer".

Re: What does \"kill\" mean
Vegas plays mostly 1/2 kill in the 4-8 game, so the game goes to 6-12, not 8-16.

Is there any point to all this?
Or are kills just for silly punters that enjoy raising the stakes for no reason?

Re: Is there any point to all this?
Ummm... kill is great for us sharks. Anytime you can get the fishes to lose their money faster this is good. You are competing with the rake for the fishes' chips. Does increase variance, though. Losing a kill pot really burns.
