is Borgata building another tower too or just a wing?

[/ QUOTE ]

from my source who is an employee at the casino (not a dealer), she says a new tower with a ton of new rooms, a top end penthouse spa, and more casino space. So basically, borgata is gonna blow every other casino in AC outta the water in the next 2 years.

Boyd Gaming updated their Borg expansion plans when they renewed their AC casino license a few weeks ago.
http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix....amp;highlight=

the "public space" expansion comes first, 2Q 2006. added gaming space (incl. poker), nightclubs and restaurants.

the new tower is scheduled for 4Q 2007. it's still in the planning stage and construction (obviously) has not started yet. another 800 rooms which will bring the total to just under 3000.

Showboat HOB will probably start siphoning business from the Taj slowly until Borg kicks up next year. the Trop can try and get more competitive as well, and maybe even Bally's/Caesars will figure out how to deal poker properly, to take advantage of their centralized location on the boardwalk.

I was at Bally's on Saturday and they had maybe 4 poker games going out of about 15 tables. They had a lot of dealers just sitting around at empty tables. I think they are having problems in general though as Wild West was definitely the least crowded of all the casinos I was in.

Bally's is the only one of all the casinos that I think can compete with Borgata IF THEY CHOSE TOO.

I can't wait to visit the Showboat next week.. I predict that will start rocking very shortly as people scramble from the Taj.

Taj has been taking advantage of people for years because they've been pretty much the only game in town.. It's time to stick it to those filthy bastards.

Agreed. Dealers didn't have half a clue.

I didn't mention it in my report but the thing that bugged me the most was how quiet the poker room is. You can here the music wafting in from outside but non in the room itself. Its the freakin' HoB for heaven's sake. I don't care if the old nits would pitch a fit, don't need them in my games anyway.

The fact that they keep their poker room looking like a filthy whorehouse is one.

Taj could make a fortune if they offered to sell rubber gloves to people as they entered the poker room. Please dispose of them in the Toxic Waste Can before you leave however.

Default The Taj will always have games and players....

I have to disagree with everyone who thinks the Taj poker room will faulter and lose its clientele.

I compare poker players to sharks in another respect, they will go to where they can find the best food source.

As long as the movie Rounders stays in circulation, the Taj will draw business from the casual player who wants to play in a famous casino.

Think about it, playing at the Taj until dawn where the sand turns to gold...check raising stupid tourists. Some of the posters who know this scene from Rounders by heart will correct this for me I hope

Well it's definently not going to happen overnight.. and especially as long as Taj holds the premier tournament in AC (USPC)

But it's going to be a little bit here and there, slowly the regulars will move into other spots.,

If you want to see the proof in the pudding, look at the Borgata waiting lists!

when Borgata opens up the new room, I think Taj is going to have alot of empty space they are probably going to end up filling with slot machines.

Where are the biggest games in Vegas? Bellagio!

MGM is taking over AC in the same fashion!
