raise, get that guy who will cold call me with a likely weaker hand, and pray the guy with the ego calls too.

Re: Flop action
i like to open bet here, I've got pot equity.
1.5 outs for each overcard (3 outs total) 1.5 outs for the backdoor flush draw 1.5 outs for the backdoor straight draw total outs: 1.5+1.5+1.5+1.5=6, which is approximately, 24% chance of hitting by the river. furthermore, the pot is huge and I might be able to force someone who is reverse dominating me to fold. |

Re: On to the turn
bet, gsd, and but flush draw, not to mention overcards, possible you could get him to fold by representing the ace too.

Re: On to the turn
[ QUOTE ]
Raise preflop. Check/raise flop (buy outs for overs, try to knock out low pairs) Bet turn (perfect card to semi-bluff at IMO). Check/fold the river UI. [/ QUOTE ] I'm glad someone here is thinking what I was when reading this. |

Re: Flop action
[ QUOTE ]
1.5 outs for the backdoor flush draw 1.5 outs for the backdoor straight draw [/ QUOTE ] I believe this overestimates your backdoor draws for a few reasons: <ul type="square">[*]Your flush draw is not to the nuts, so that draw could be dead to a bare A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].[*]Several of your backdoor straight outs put three hearts on board.[*]Whereas a non-heart ten on the turn is a legitimate backdoor open-ended straight draw, an ace only gives you an inside straight draw.
Therefore, it seems to me that counting these for 3 outs collectively overrates their value. I'd discount them to maybe 1.5-2 for both of them. Comments? |

Re: Let\'s try a play along...newbies\' chance to shine
in general i would limp in with KQo from this position. I know that KQo is a better hand against fewer opponents, but with a raise you are limiting the field to people with better hands. if no one raises you it is perfectly reasonable to assume that you have the best K and the best Q. KQ suited can handle more opponents and I raise.
I don't think the table dynamics changes my play other then to make it more clearly a limp hand then a raise hand 'a raise doesn't seem to thin the field'. if the guy 2 to your left is tight then it's fine to have him on the flop. he'll fold to your bet or call you with worse hands that have a K or Q |

Re: Let\'s try a play along...newbies\' chance to shine
I was thinking about this on my way to work this morning and about maybe I would raise. If the other players are passive, raising for a free card would be a good idea if you were fairly certain they would check to you on the turn but if there is a chance you will face a reraise on the flop or a bet on the turn I believe just calling is best.

Me, I'm gonna just call this, because you aren't going to thin the field at this table.
