I'm kind of amazed how many people are willing to lay down a full house. If you are only going to play 99 when the board is 988, aren't you saying, I might as well only play AA? I mean, I've made a boat. I'm calling. Yeah, it was tough. Yeah, I thought I might be beat.
I wasn't. He turned over k/q. I don't consider him a donk for making this move. I consider it unlucky and bad timing. |

I really don't like when people say things like "oh you're playing AK to hit TPTK how can you fold when you hit?" and "oh you're playing 99 to hit a set how can you fold when you hit?". No-limit doesn't really play like that, and although you're generally going to want to play when you hit a full house, the action in front can turn a weak boat like this into rags.
I'm not saying that this particular hand is an easy laydown, I'm just saying that hitting a set doesn't mean you have to go all the way every time. |
